Welcome to here.

I live with my partner and our three kids on a couple of acres on the Mid North Coast of NSW.  Our chaos is probably milder than it would be if we lived in the city.  Except there’s more grass to mow and snakes to dodge.

I’ve been a freelance journalist since my first son was born, in 2000.  Since then I’ve produced programs for ABC Radio National and written for The Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian and Australian Country Style.

I write about social issues, parenting, regional living and stuff that amuses me, or doesn’t.

I’m the Breakfast Presenter and Online Producer at ABC Coffs Coast while Fiona Poole is on maternity leave. I’m also the coordinator of 12words and I’m on the Board of Microloan Foundation, Australia.

A satin bower bird has built a nest on my block. It’s full of blue milk bottle lids and pegs and bits of old tarpaulins.  It’s amazing and I wonder what they used to blue up their nests before we started leaving rubbish around.

The other day a Satin Bower came right up to our chook pen. It sat on the post a few meters from me, looked me in the eye, then flew away to find something blue.
